What breaks through marketing and communications clutter on social media? For the announcement of my Medium article, "Logo Design is Dead," I want to accomplish two things: 1. Intrigue readers about the topic and, 2. Entice them to learn more.

To captivate the audience, the graphic needs to visually relate to the content of the article, which is about the role of AI in the future of logo design. "Logo Design is Dead," provides a provocative statement and, in a sea of AI-generated artwork, I think a large headline set in a bold font has the potential to stand out. Next, the photograph of my hand drawing logo sketches hints at the article's nut graf — the importance of process and the human touch in logo design.

I cater the introduction copy to speak appropriately to the specific audience of each social media platform. The copy addresses the topic of AI immediately, since that's not obvious in the visual. Last, the layout and contents of the graphic are slightly altered based on best practices for each channel.

LinkedIn

Post content: AI-powered design programs are dramatically changing our approach to #branding. We know it can enable more efficient design solutions, but can AI understand brand strategy? Can it craft original logos that are unique in the marketplace, and memorable for the intended audience? Check out my latest article on Medium.com (would hyperlink "Medium.com"), and find out if AI is the right tool for your brand's most valuable asset.

Rationale: Being a resource for business professionals, LinkedIn articles need to have information that's educational and informative. Since the title of my article is somewhat intriguing, I wrote copy that gets right to the topic of AI in logo design. Importantly, I'm appealing to potential clients on LinkedIn. My tone of voice has to be professional, but also personal and approachable. I ask questions for the audience to seriously consider weighing the benefits of AI, and what it means for their marketing and business needs.

The "Article Announcement" flag acts as a bookmark, encouraging users to "save" the article. They can revisit when they have time to read the full article. The Medium logo is included to let users know where the link will direct them. It also helps to add credibility to the article. Last, the use of two relevant hashtags will provide the potential for LinkedIn users to easily find the article.

Instagram

Post content: Think AI can design a better logo? Think again. In my latest article on Medium.com, I outline the pros and cons of using AI in the logo design process. Spoiler alert: professional logo designers are more important than ever. Check it out and let me know if you think AI is killing logo design — or, if you're killing logo design with AI. Link in bio. #logodesigner #branddesign

Rationale: Although current and potential clients do follow my Instagram account, creative professionals are the primary audience on this platform. It's important to establish credibility among peers — and to keep a professional tone — but Instagram also offers the opportunity to have a little more fun. While many designers use AI, there is also a hesitation to try it — some are understandably afraid it will take their job in the future. The headline and image will relate to this audience immediately, while the copy is a little more light-hearted to help assuage any fears. I also invite users to respond and engage in a healthy dialogue in the feed.

Threads

Post content: Is AI killing logo design? Or, are you killing logo design with AI? Check out my latest article on Medium.com, and find out how AI is being used to help streamline the logo design process. Spoiler alert: logo design isn't actually dead. Link in bio. #logodesignisdead #longlivelogodesign

Rationale: Similar to Instagram, Threads is not a client lead-generation social media platform. Most of the (350+) users are simply following me (Map Agency) on Threads to see new work, get inspired, and engage with another design studio. One benefit over Twitter is that it allows for larger images (1070×1424 pixels) and more copy — though the recommendation is still to keep it short and simple. As such, the Threads post simply announces the article, "Logo Design is Dead," and asks users to engage by asking a few simple questions about how they use AI in logo design. To encourage reposting, the hashtags are also geared more towards creative professionals.
